Talking about a match with two faces, it’s usually about a difficult first and an exciting second half. This afternoon in the Johan Cruyff ArenA was exactly the opposite. In 45 minutes Ajax destroyed Feyenoord in what seemed to be an unfair fight.
An early finisher from Hakim Ziyech after a great pass from Dusan Tadic after two minutes and 1 second was the start of what was going to be a great performance of Ajax. Only five minutes later it was Nico Tagliafico who sealed this match within 10 minutes after an artful pass of David Neres who started in the starting eleven for the first time since 25 September. The stadium started screaming “10!, 10!, 10!” and it seemed like Ajax wasn’t done with scoring goals yet.
In the 16th minute, it was Quincy Promes who faced Feyenoord goalie Kenneth Vermeer in a one on one but it was Vermeer who saved. 15 minutes later it was Feyenoord who scored the 2-1 but it was Narsingh who was in an offside position and therefore the goal was disallowed. Seven minutes later it was David Neres who scored the 3-0 with a cheeky chip over Kenneth Vermeer after a pass from Dusan Tadic. Before half-time, it was Donny van de Beek who made the 4-0 with a header. The home crowd went crazy and was hoping for double digits but the second half wasn’t as attractive as the first.
Feyenoord left Steven Berhuis in the locker room and he was replaced by Tapia which made clear that the visitors from Rotterdam were afraid to lose by even bigger numbers. Even though the game was a bit more boring in the second half It was still Ajax who got the biggest chances. Both Ziyech and van de Beek had chances to make the score even more embarrassing for Feyenoord but they failed to find the net. Erik ten Hag felt that the game needed some impulses and substituted Hakim Ziyech and Dusan Tadic for respectively Ryan Gravenberch and Lassina Traoré. The match ended in a 4-0 result which meant that Ajax won for the 5th consecutive time in de Klassieker at home.
Due to the 0-4 loss from PSV to AZ earlier on Sunday Ajax have a lead of six points on both AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven after 11 games.
