On behalf of everyone from All About Ajax, we would like to wish you all a very happy new year and hope you all had a great festive period. With that out the way, let’s turn our attention to 2021!

The year 2020 will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. As we celebrate the turn of a new year, there is much for us Ajax fans to lick our lips about.

There is much to look forward to between now and the end of the season, as we welcome back the Eredivisie this weekend, let’s look at some key dates for the rest of the season.

10th January: The return of the Eredivisie.

With all the excitement for the return of the Eredivisie, games won’t get much bigger than this. The gameweek will see us welcome PSV to the Johan Cryuff Stadium. A game that many fans will underline and circle when the fixtures get released before the start of the season. There’s just one point between us and our Eindhoven rivals, a classic first vs second game, as Ajax fans we will be starting the year with a very exciting game.

17th January: Ajax vs Feyenoord

Only two weeks after the return of the Eredivisie, the schedule will allow for us Ajax fans to get our first taste of Der Klassieker action for the season. Whilst Feyenoord are five points adrift from Ajax in the league, the Rotterdam club will be up for this game as they hope to cause an upset at the Johan Cryuff Stadium.

20th January: The KNVB Cup

The KNVB see’s us face AZ Alkmaar. AZ caused us serious problems last season, whilst we tied at the top of the Eredivisie table with them, they will want to get revenge having been handed second place due to goal difference, thus missing out on Champions League football by knocking us out of the domestic cup.

18th Feburary: Europa League vs Lille 1st Leg

After a disappointing exit from the Champions League, Ajax will face Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille in the UEFA Europa League. The French side have been in fine form this season, as they currently sit level on points of the French league. Lille are only behind league-leaders Lyon on goal difference and they are ahead of the regularly dominant PSG by one point.

Lille bought Sven Botman from Ajax last summer and despite being subject to interest from elsewhere, Botman is set for a return to face his former side.

25th Feburary: Europa League vs Lille 2nd Leg

The all important second leg awaits at the end of Feburary. After (hopefully) getting a crucial result at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, Ajax will turn their attention to securing qualification to the next round of the Europa League in this fixture.

After many memoral moments in Europa, espeically in recent years, can we add another sepcial night to that on the 25th Feburary?!

Other Ajax-related key dates to keep note of for 2021:

28th Feburary: PSV vs Ajax (Eredivisie Round 2 )

24th April: Ajax vs AZ Alkmaar (Eredivisie Round 2)

9th May: Feyenoord vs Ajax (Eredivisie Round 2)

There is a lot to prepare for as Ajax fans in the early part of 2021. This does not yet include further round-dates in the Europa League nor anything relating to the start of the 2021/22 season.

Of course, this is all assuming that football will be allowed to resume again and manages to avoid any cancellations in the same way that the reason was null and voided last season.

On behalf of everyone from AllAboutAjax, we hope you have an amazing year and can some share amazing memories with us whilst supporting Ajax. If you want to see more from us then give us follow on Twitter @AllAboutTwitter.
