Ajax Reserves booked a convincing 4-0 win over FC Utrecht Reserves on Monday evening at De Toekomst. Lassina Traoré was the matchwinner with 3 goals.

Ajax Reserves took the initiative right from the start and it only took 15 minutes before this resulted in the first goal. After a good ball by Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, Traoré was able to make his first goal of the evening. Five minutes later, the lead was doubled: This time, Jurgen Ekkelenkamp found the net himself. After the two goals, Ajax took some gas back and Utrecht Reserves even managed to get some chances with shots from just outside the box. All of them could be easily handled by goalkeeper Bruno Varela who made his first official minutes for Ajax.

The second half started differently than the first half, this time it was FC Utrecht Reserves that started strong. Nevertheless, it was Ajax Reserves who had the best chances. Again it was Jurgen Ekkelenkamp who had two great chances but he failed to finish them. In the 67th minute, it was Traoré who made the 3-0. Utrecht keeper David Jensen completely misjudged a long ball and because of that Traoré could put the ball into an empty goal.

6 minutes later it was Traoré again who managed to fulfill his hattrick by scoring a rebound. Even though the striker from Burkina Faso already scored three times he was still working had to get even more goals. Luck was not on his side with two headers which both hit the crossbar.

It was the 85th minute when Traoré was substituted for his compatriot Hassane Bandé who made his first official minutes in the Ajax jersey after being injured for over 16 months. The American youth-players Alex Mendez and Joshua Pynadath also made some minutes.

Because of the victory Ajax reserves now has 20 points and is standing on the fourth place in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.
