Zinedine Zidane and the Board of Directors down in Madrid still can’t agree on how to fortify their midfield. According to Marca, Zidane strongly favors a move on Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, while the board above him would rather get Donny van de Beek’s signature.

Zidane has been trying to lure his compatriot away from Manchester United since the summer window, but he has had no success yet. Paul Pogba and his agent, Mino Raiola, would both be interested in a move to the Galácticos, but the management of United is still refusing to cooperate. It would take an incredibly hefty fee to get the Frenchman out of United’s hands, which is why the Real Madrid board are eyeing Ajax’ Donny van de Beek instead.

Just like Pogba, the Ajax fan-favorite has been on Real’s radar for quite some time, but Zidane’s desire for Pogba, as well as the injury Donny picked up last August, have reportedly kept Real Madrid at bay so far. Van de Beek would be a younger and cheaper alternative to Paul Pogba, and the Board of Directors seems to believe a transfer from Ajax to Real Madrid could be finalized within just a couple of hours.

Apart from Van de Beek and Pogba, former Ajax player Christian Eriksen is on the list of Florentino Pérez. The Danish playmaker will see his contract at Tottenham Hotspur expire by the end of this season, so he would be a free agent come summer. So far, however, Pogba is the only one on the mind of Zizou.
