Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is disappointed in the way Ajax played versus Willem II. They lost with 0-2 in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
“We’ve brought this upon ourselves.” the manager states in an interview with FOX right after the match. “We played bad against a good Willem II. We totally disregarded all our principles. That meant we couldn’t dominate and control the game.”
Ten Hag is mostly agitated about the large amount of crosses with which Ajax attempted to force a goal. “It almost never works to work those crosses into the penalty area from that far. We should have continued to play the ball around, that’s our strength.”
The mindset of his players is also one of the biggest issues ten Hag takes away from the match. “We didn’t give it our all and if we don’t this is what happens. We already saw this during the FC Twente game last week. Willem II countered us four times after a corner by us.”
“We will have to take a good look into the mirror and reflect. All of us and me first.” The manager states against Fox Sports.
