Three points with three losses

PEC Zwolle – Ajax: 2-4 Goals: Promes (2x), Nerex (2x)

Ajax has defeated PEC Zwolle in what had to be a one-sided affair. But after a comfortable 3-0 lead in 20 minutes an unnecessary PEC Zwolle goal was the prelude for an annoying second half.

It was Quincy Promes who gave Ajax an early lead in the 6′ minute after a poor clearance by PEC Zwolle goalie Xavier Mous. He doubled the lead shortly after with a header. In the 20′ minute David Neres seemed to seal the evening with a close range finish. Before half time though PEC Zwolle clawed one back. The home side gained confidence and started pressuring Ajax in the second half. Resulting in the second PEC goal when Ajax had only 10 man on the pitch due to an lip injury for Edson Alvarez. In the 86th minute David Neres ended al doubt by putting the 4-2 on the board.

Worth noting: Hakim Ziyech did brilliant tonight with 3 assists.

Three of Ajax’ stars had to leave the pitch with injuries. Lisandro Martinez, Edson Alvarez and Donny van der Beek seemed to be hurt. If yet has to turn out if there’s any real damage done.

After this match and the three points Ajax should aim sight to Tuesday. In London awaits Chelsea in what promises to be a close encounter.
