Joel Veltman noticed that since the draw against Chelsea (4-4) in the Champions League most people are talking about the two red cards from Veltman and Blind. The 27-year old defender also wants to focus on the first yellow card he received in order to learn a lesson from it.

‘Everybody is talking about the second yellow card and therefore the two red cards’ Veltman states in an interview with the NOS. ‘I want to look beyond that moment. I didn’t expect to receive a yellow card for the first foul I committed. I do get it and therefore I need to look at that situation as well’.

Veltman realizes that nothing can be changed about the situation and therefore he wants to look to the coming game against FC Utrecht. ‘It takes a bit longer to process the game against Chelsea in comparison to other games but we have a really important match coming. Next week we have an Interland break and therefore it’s important to win against FC Utrecht. Even though I know it’s a bit strange, we do have some sort of a revenge sentiment against Utrecht’.

So far, Veltman is playing really well this season after being injured on the knee for a long time last year. The comeback Veltman made feels a bit like a restart of his career. ‘I feel good. I also said that after my first knee injury when I was playing at Jong Ajax but that’s quite a different level than the Champions League which we are playing now.’. This season Veltman played twenty games which means he only missed one game: Against VVV Venlo in August.
