Noa Lang had a day to never forget this Sunday afternoon. The winger made his debut in the starting eleven and was important in the match against FC Twente by scoring a hat-trick. Shortly after the match, Lang spoke with Fox Sports about his performance.
“This is a dream. I had to wait and be patient for quite some time for my chance so it’s really great to make my starting debut like this.” Lang saw Ajax starting poorly and after twenty minutes they were behind by two goals. “We didn’t start the way we wanted so we had to turn the game around. I didn’t start too good myself to be fair, I lost the ball just before the 2-0 from Twente. After that, you have to keep focused and of course, the 2-1 helps both the team and myself. Because of that goal we gain confidence and we showed in the second half that we were better.”
After scoring the equaliser and a goal from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who put Ajax ahead, Lang was pretty lucky with his third goal of the afternoon: “It was a bit lucky, but you have to make your own luck haha.”. After the completion of his hat-trick, the away fans were chanting Lang’s name which the 20-year noticed as well: “That is beautiful. It really is a dream”.
Noa Lang played most of his matches for Jong Ajax this season so far. In 9 games in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie he scored 5 times and has 4 assists. Since wingers David Neres and Zakaria Labyad will be injured for some more time and with Quincy Promes being substituted because of an injury against Twente, it’s highly likely that Lang will get more time in the first squad the coming weeks.
