Ajax won the away game at FC Twente with 2-5 this afternoon, but Ajax didn’t play as well as the past few weeks. Daley Blind saw were it went wrong and is glad the Ajax turned the game around in the end.
‘We made it very difficult for ourselves today. I think that we were sloppy at certain moments and on crucial spots on the field. Those mistakes led to the Twente-counters’, said Blind to Fox Sports. ‘We always take risks in our build-up play, but if you are not sharp enough, the opponent will get space for a counter-attack and FC Twente did that quite good.’
Despite the early goals from FC Twente, Blind stayed calm. ‘We know that we always create a lot of chances, but you also need a bit of luck. The first goal of Noa Lang right before halftime came on a good moment and luckily the second goal came quite quickly after the break. Eventually, we searched for more goals and we took control of the match. So I have to make big compliments for the mentality of the team.’
The central defender was satisfied with the performance of the young hero of the day, Noa Lang. ‘It’s good to see that the players that don’t play that much can contribute to the first team. First Zakaria Labyad and now with Noa. Noa grabbed his chances and made a hat-trick. The youngsters are eager to show themselves and I think that is what Ajax stands for’, says Blind.
