Tomorrow Ajax plays his next Eredivisie game against PEC Zwolle away and Daley Blind wants to make sure the team doesn’t underestimate this game. A few days before the important away-game against Chelsea for the Champions League, Ajax has to make sure that they are focused on the Eredivisie match first before thinking about their London trip.

Since Ajax didn’t had to play in this week’s cup-round they had a few days off after the game against Feyenoord on Sunday. ‘It’s been a busy schedule for us. We had some time to recover and now we have to focus on the game against PEC Zwolle. The game against PEC will definitely be a test for us. I think we can compare it to last year’s game against Heracles away which we lost with 1-0’ said Daley Blind against Voetbal International.

‘Two weeks ago, the game against RKC showed us that we have to stay focused. It’s often said that you become champions against the smaller teams from the league. With all due respect for PEC Zwolle and similar clubs, in these kinds of games, we have to look at ourselves mostly. If we play the best we can then there is a big chance we’ll win those games.’ Blind continues: ‘It’s important that we realize that but sometimes that’s difficult.’

Since last week’s victory on Feyenoord and AZ’s win on PSV, Ajax has a six-point lead after 11 games. Even though this 6-point lead Blind realizes that the competition is not decided yet: ‘We are six points ahead which is a good thing but there are still a lot of matches to be played. I once was 13 points behind the leader with Ajax and we managed to win the league at the end so it could be the other way around as well. We have to stay focused till the end’.
