Ajax has finally confirmed what everyone already was already reporting; Noa Lang will play the rest of the season for FC Twente. The winger isn’t needed at the moment in Amsterdam but should make as many minutes as possible.
Noa Lang was able to play a lot in the first team of Ajax during the last few months due to injuries of David Neres, Quincy Promes, and Zakaria Labyad. There’s not so much time for him now since Promes is already fit, Neres is on his way back and Ajax got Ryan Babel as an extra wide-player in the winter.
Manager Erik ten Hag already stated on Friday that he’d rather have Noa Lang play as much as possible, to help his development. “Noa is a young player with relatively little experience as a first-team player. He needs to gain experience. We are open to loan him out for six months, so he will return in July as a better player.”
“My goal is to return to Ajax as a more complete footballer”Noa Lang
That’s exactly what happened now, with his loan to FC Twente. Noa Lang himself is also excited about this opportunity to gain experience elsewhere: “One of my goals is to become stronger when we have the ball. I need to become more reliable and improve myself in every area. It shouldn’t be that I’m just a nice football player in ball possession. My goal is to return to Ajax as a more complete footballer. I’m sure I’m going to succeed there.”
So far Noa Lang has played in 13 official matches for Ajax, scoring four times and assisting one goal. His best performance was, funny enough, versus FC Twente – he scored a hattrick in that match.
