Ajax has signed a sponsorship deal with the Curaçao Tourism Board for three and a half years. The name “Curaçao” will be on the sleeves of the Ajax jerseys from now on.
It will be the first time ever that a sponsor is visible on the sleeve of an Ajax kit. The home match versus Sparta next Sunday will be the first time it’ll be shown in action.
This means that Curaçao will be one of Ajax’s biggest sponsors; behind Ziggo, Adidas, ABN Amro, and BUD. Rumour has it that Ajax will get paid close to two million euros per year. Besides that, the first team will get a completely free training camp every season.
“For Ajax, the partnership with Curacao Tourist Board means a nice expansion of our commercial portfolio,” said Ajax commercial director Menno Geelen. ‘”And we will work with Curaçao Tourist Board to ensure that their marketing objectives will be achieved in part thanks to this partnership. Our new partner will provide Ajax with income that will contribute to our goal of structurally joining the European football top. We are looking forward to a long-term and successful cooperation.”
The Curaçaon minister of economic development will be present at the game versus Sparta on Sunday, she’ll unveil the new logo of the sponsorship. “We have years of experience in sports marketing all over the world and a partnership with Ajax, with their international reach and view on future generations, fits very well with our goals,” said the Minister. “We look forward to working together and welcoming the team to Curacao so they can experience for themselves how much there is to experience on our island.”
