Not only André Onana has made his wish for a transfer known, but so has Nicolás Tagliafico. In an interview with Argentinian radio station Continental, he spoke about a departure from Amsterdam.
Tagliafico joined Ajax almost two and a half years ago. Now it’s time to take the next step. Ajax has said they’d cooperate with a transfer, but only if the right price will be reached. The Coronacrisis might mean that clubs can’t or won’t offer what Ajax wants for its elite left-back.
The Argentinian never tried to hide the fact that he saw Ajax just as a stepping stone to the bigger European competitions: ‘It’s always been my goal to play in the best competitions, at a top club’, Tagliafico noted. ‘Ajax is an amazing club, but the Eredivisie is not an amazing competition. One should always have bigger dreams.’
‘I’m still working on my fitness. I need to be as fit as possible in case I’ll move to a new club. The pre-season will start in August, so two more months. But if I’ll leave… it’s still uncertain.’
Two clubs who are often linked to Tagliafico are Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona. About the latter, Tagliafico said: ‘I might be on their shortlist, but nothing concrete yet. I have to remain calm. If something is happening, I’ll speak to my agent.’
