The kit that Ajax wore between 1969-1973 has been elected the 3rd most beautiful Eredivisie kit of all time. The Eredivisie held a special vote to see which kit was the most popular. The Willem II kit of 1958-1967 won the election.
First, all the supporters could cast their vote on their top three favourite kits of all time. Not only current Eredivisie clubs were represented but also clubs that play in the second division right now and even clubs that no longer exist. The fan vote saw the 1969-1972 Ajax home-kit come out on top.
But to be named the greatest Eredivisie kit of all time the jury also had a vote. They decided that the Willem II kit worn between 1958-1967 was the most beautiful of them all. The Feyenoord kit 1983-1984 came second and the Ajax kit third: ‘That white round collar, huh’, jury member and style guru Arno Kantelberg said. ‘As far as I’m concerned, every perfect shirt has a round collar. The Ajax shirt is already beautifully recognizable by itself, especially with long sleeves. This classic is almost virginal in its simplicity, but everyone in the world recognizes that red band’.
Don’t be sad, though. France Football chose the same Ajax kit as the most beautiful kit ever worn.
The three most voted on Ajax kits were the Ajax home-kit 1969-1973, the away-kit in which we won the Champions League in 1995, and the away-kit of the heroic Champions League season of 2018-2019.
