In the begin of 2020, Noa Lang went on loan to FC Twente. The young forward wanted to gain more experience in the Eredivisie and experience the other side of the medal. From fighting for the title to fighting against relegation, Lang learns a lot in a short time. He gave an interview with Ajax TV.
Noa Lang was on a training camp with Ajax to Qatar but shortly after that, he went to FC Twente on a loan deal. Mostly because Ajax signed Ryan Babel: ‘His arrival would mean less play-time for me so I immediately told the trainer that I wanted to go on loan somewhere else so I could keep playing on a high level. I felt that going back to Jong Ajax wouldn’t help me, I want to play in the Eredivisie.’ And thus Noa Lang moved to FC Twente to finish the season there.
Football in Twente isn’t the same as in Amsterdam, Noa Lang has experienced: ‘I went from fighting for the title to fighting versus relegation. We have to fight for every yard here. At Ajax, you have so much ball possession and here I’m often trying to win the ball back.’ Noa has been doing quite alright in Enschede but he is far from satisfied with his own performances. ‘I’m not satisfied yet, I know I can and have to do better. I need to score and assist more goals.’
At Ajax Lang was known for his temperament, but he seems to have matured at FC Twente. ‘I’m a lot calmer now, especially in my head.’ Noa reflects, also on the field he learns a lot: ‘I’ve learned to fight for the ball and the team. I know I’m a good footballer but there are so many more aspects to the game which I’m learning here. I hope I can learn even more and be a better player when I return to Ajax.’
