According to multiple sources, including very reliable sources such as Mike Verweij and Freek Jansen, Ajax has signed Brazilian wonderkid Antony of São Paolo. The 19-year-old winger will come over in the summer of 2020 for a maximum of € 29 million.
Ajax already tried to sign Antony in the winter transfer-window but wasn’t able to close the deal on time. Now, however, the deal seems to be as good as finished. Antony will sign 5-year-long contract at Ajax. He’ll join the club in the summer of 2020.
Antony is regarded as a very big talent in Brazil. Cubs like Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City were also interested in the services of the winger. His playstyle looks a lot like Neres’, he’s a left-footed right-winger. So far he’s played 33 games for the first team of Sao Paolo in which he scored 4 goals and assisted another 6. He also plays for the Brazilian u23 side that goes to the Olympic Games this summer.
He will most likely be the most expensive signing in Ajax’ history. Sources mention different sums but it seems like Ajax will pay € 20 million up front and a maximum of € 9 million in potential bonuses.
