On the 14th of March, the UEFA held their draw for the 1/8 finals of the UEFA Youth League, the u19 counterpart of the Champions League. The team of John Heitinga will have to face Atlético Madrid.
Ajax will have the home advantage, the game will be played on Ajax’ academy de Toekomst on the 3rd or 4th of March. There will be no return matches played in this stage of the competition.
Ajax U19 finished first in their group which consisted of them, Valencia, Lille, and Chelsea. Last season Ajax got kicked out in the 1/8 finals versus Lyon after penalties. The best result in the Youth League for the young guns of Ajax was in 2012 when they lost the final versus Inter Milan.
