Ajax will go to Qatar in January for a training camp. The selection will leave for Doha on Saturday, January 4th, and will stay at Aspire Zone, an exclusive training location. The team will return to the Netherlands on January 12th.
It’s been the third time that Ajax has their training camp in Qatar during the winter break with the last time being in 2015.
In total, four top European teams have been invited and rumor has it Bayern München is one of them. The opponents and game dates will be announced at a later stage. During the eight days in Qatar Ajax will play two friendly matches.
According to the Telegraaf these matches will be played in stadiums that will be used at the World Cup 2022. Besides that, the Telegraaf has information that Ajax will receive €700.000 for participating in the tournament which makes it a lucrative trip for the club.
During the training camp, Erik ten Hag’s selection hopes to enjoy an optimal preparation for the second half of the season. Which starts on Sunday, January 19, when Ajax meets Sparta at home.
