Ajax faces Heerenveen at home this Sunday. Usually a match with a lot of goals, but what can we expect from the Ajax line-up? All About Ajax with a prediction.
The backline seems to be set in stone. Mazraoui on the right, a central duo of Schuurs and Blind with Tagliafico covering the left flank. If none of the defenders are injured or suspended, which they aren’t, this is ten Hag’s ideal defensive line.
The midfield will change a bit, we presume. Klaassen is back at Ajax and he’ll most likely make his return as a ’10’, replacing Promes on this spot. The two midfielders behind him will, most likely, be Álvarez and Gravenberch again. Ten Hag has made clear that he doesn’t think Martinez is a good fit for the midfield and we don’t think he’ll start there any time soon.
Promes will move back to his favourite spot; on the left wing. Antony is almost a guaranteed starter on the right and Tadic will, finally, move back to his preferred spot as well – the striker position.
This means that Labyad will be the one who has to make place in the starting eleven and move back to the bench. A hard, but logical choice if we look at the stats. Labyad only scored once, in the game versus RKC. Those numbers aren’t good enough for a striker.
Expected line-up Ajax: Onana; Mazraoui, Schuurs, Blind, Tagliafico; Álvarez, Gravenberch, Klaassen; Antony, Tadic, Promes.
