Ajax master-scout Tonny Bruins Slot has passed away aged 73, De Telegraaf reports. He was still actively scouting for Ajax, making analyses of the opposition.
His last analysis was of Liverpool, just two weeks ago. Bruins Slot became known as Johan Cruijff’s loyal right hand at first at Ajax and later FC Barcelona. Later he travelled after Ronald Koeman and did the analyses for national coach Frank Rijkaard in 2000 during the European Championships.
Bruins Slot also worked at top clubs such as Benfica, Valencia, PSV and AZ. Like no other, he was able to expose the opponent’s weak spots in his analyses.
