Ajax is still working on getting Davy Klaassen back to Amsterdam. The negotiations are ongoing and the player is really excited to return to his former club and even willing to hand in a lot of his salary to make that happen, according to Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf.
During a press conference on Thursday, ten Hag stated that he hopes one more player joins the Ajax ranks, and it is widely believed that Davy Klaassen is that target. The manager when asked if Klaassen is the man they’re targeting: “That could be, it has always been the same way: if we have news, we’ll share it. We are working on several things and we’ll see what comes of it”.
Klaassen is a real Ajax-kid. He joined our academy aged 11 and played six seasons in our first team, which he was the captain of. His move to Everton wasn’t successful and now he’s been at Werder Bremen for over two seasons. He’s revived his career and now Ajax is looking to bring the 27-year-old midfielder home.
Ajax has sold three midfielders this transfer period (van de Beek, Eiting, and Marin) and is now looking for some experience to strengthen that part of the pitch. Klaassen is thought to be a perfect fit.
