Neres has already been out for four months, but according to Ajax-watcher Mike Verweij it’ll be at least another month before we can expect him back on the pitch.
Verweij was asked in the podcast of the Telegraaf what the current status of Neres is. ‘Only three days after the Chelsea match people realised he had a knee injury. He underwent a meniscus surgery and the expectations were that he would be fit again after the winter stop,’ Verweij explained. ‘He even joined the training camp in Qatar. After that camp, something must have happened, but no-one knows what.’
One thing is clear for Verweij however: ‘He must have gotten injured again, a setback in his revalidation. The expectation is that he won’t be back on the pitch before April.’
