There’s been a lot of cancelled and postponed sporting events all over Europe due to the COVID-19 virus spreading across the world. Even in the Netherlands three Eredivisie games this weekend are cancelled. As of right now Ajax – FC Twente will be played and with fans present. Scheduled kick-off is at 14:30 CEST.

Every football game in one of the southern provinces of the Netherlands, Brabant, have been cancelled. This was a decision made by the province itself, not the Dutch FA. There was some uncertainties if other games in the rest of the country would still proceed but that has now been confirmed.

On Wednesday afternoon the Dutch FA, the KNVB, held a meeting with all the clubs in the Eredivisie as to how to proceed. The conclusion of this meeting was that all other Eredivisie matches outside of Brabant will proceed as usual, with fans. ‘We follow the guidelines and we try to play as long as possible with fans present in the stadiums,’ Eric Gudde of the KNVB said. The FA already stated that they rather postpone games than play them without any fans.
