Ajax won the big match versus PSV with 1-0 but three of their players didn’t make it until the final whistle. Joël Veltman, Quincy Promes, and Ryan Babel all had to leave the field prematurely with hamstring problems.
Joël Veltman got injured after a seemingly innocent pass. Even though it was clear he couldn’t play on he had to for a couple of minutes since Perr Schuurs still had to do a quick warming-up. Just before the half-hour mark Schuurs relieved Veltman as the right-centreback.
In the 45th minute Quincy Promes tried to reach Ryan Babel with an innovative backheel but instead he just god injured after landing. He immediately signed to the bench that he also couldn’t proceed. He got replaced with Lassina Traoré. Promes only just returned from another injury last week.
Just after an hour of game time, the third victim of the hamstring curse fell. Ryan Babel was also unable to continue and he was replaced by Noussair Mazraoui.
The severity of the injuries is not yet known.
