It will probably take some time until Hassane Bandé is fully recovered and be able to play full matches. The winger from Burkina Faso, who came from KV Mechelen in the summer of 2018, is on its way back from a heavy injury.
In the pre-season of 2018-2019, Bande broke his leg and tore his ligament in a friendly match against Anderlecht. It took him more than a year to recover from this and in the last months, he is taking steps in the right direction and also played some friendlies. Last Wednesday he scored against Willem ll in a match which Ajax won with 6-1.
Freek Jansen, a Dutch reporter from newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, describes the injury: ‘Everyone who was present at that match, said that it was a horrific tackle on him’, said Jansen at ‘Voetbalpraat’ on Fox Sports. He continues: ‘He is not fully back yet. People at Ajax say that he needs more time before he is fully back on the pitch. I think that it will last until the winter break before he reaches a level that is good enough to be part of the match selection again.’
Hassana Bandé started his career at the Salitas Football School in Burkina Faso and earned a transfer to Belgium club KV Mechelen in the summer of 2017. In his first months at KV Mechelen he made such a great impression that Ajax bought him for seven and a half million euros. In his only season in Belgium, he scored 12 times in 27 matches. After his injury and a long period of recovery Bandé made his official debut for Ajax in the game between Jong Ajax and Jong FC Utrecht on 21 October. His first official minutes in the first squad are yet to come. Bandé is on the way back, but not fully recovered yet
