Noussair Mazraoui’s match against Heracles was cut short by a minor knee injury last Saturday. Shortly after the match, he explained the nature of the injury and how he picked it up. Whether he’ll be available to Erik ten Hag in Lille two days from now is yet to be determined.
“I tripped with one foot stuck in the grass. From that point on my knee was just locked and I couldn’t run anymore. I could not even turn my knee, so that meant it was the end of the game for me,” stated Mazraoui after Ajax – Heracles in the Ziggo skybox.
“It’s a sharp, stabbing pain,” said Mazraoui, describing the situation with his left knee. While it doesn’t seem like a long-lasting injury, he is hesitant to make any promises around the Champions League fixture away at Lille OSC, this Wednesday at 9 PM CET. “I will have to see how quickly I can recover. I know how much is on the line for Ajax on Wednesday and I hope to be there, but as of right now it’s too close to call.”
