Ajax had a great final rehearsel (13-0 win versus VVV-Venlo) for the all-important Champions League game versus Atalanta on Tuesday evening. But wh will Ten Hag chose for his starting eleven this time out? All About Ajax with a prediction!
We can’t underestimate Atalanta Bergamo, the Italian side has become stronger and stronger in recent years and was the surprise of the Champions League last season.
Moreover, they won their first game in the group stage this season, so the pressure is immediately fully there. A win is important to keep a good chance of survival in the Champions League. Last week Erik ten Hag came up with a great battle plan for the game with Liverpool but had to change it after only 9 minutes. Mohammed Kudus then left the field injured and will not be able to play in the coming months. Because Antony was not there at the time, Ten Hag solved that by subbing Quincy Promes in.
That was no success at all. Promes, who seems to miss Ziyech more than anyone, is having a form-crisis. He wasn’t even able to bag a goal versus VVV-Venlo, even though he played for 45 minutes. Because of this, we expect Antony to take his position on the wings. Tadic and Neres complete the attacking trio. The rest of the line-up will be the same as versus Liverpool, we presume. Martínez back as a centre-back and Blind to strengthen the midfield.
Expected line-up: Onana; Mazraoui, Schuurs, Martínez, Tagliafico; Klaassen, Blind, Gravenberch; Antony, Tadic, Neres.
